Welcome to the Sachem CYS's Homepage! The Sachem Community Youth Services, also know as Sachem Teen Center, is a nonprofit community youth agency which offers a wide array of services for youth and young adults ages 5-20. We have been proudly serving the community for over 40 years. We receive funding from Brookhaven and Suffolk County Youth Bureaus and the NYS Office of Children and Family Services.

Sachem Community Youth Services is dedicated to providing positive outlets and alternatives for youth. Through our programs, we encourage youth to strive towards being responsible, involved, and productive members within their communities.

Programs
Drop-In Lounge
Our drop-in lounge offers a fun, safe, supervised place for youth, gardes 6-12 to socialize. Come to our Lake Ronkonkoma location on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Movie Nights
Movie Nights are every Friday night. Come to our Ronkonkoma location to see new releases and old favorites that have a rating of G through PG13.
Youth Council
Youth Council is a great way for students ages 10-20 to get involved. Organize community service projects, agency activities, and take part in education programs.
Basketball
Our non-instructional basketball program is for ages 10-18. It is open to Sachem Youth. Program runs when school is in session. Call for information.
Counseling
Our 16-week, short-term service is provided by a qualified MSW. This service is available to youth and their familes and is offered on Thursday evenings.
Arts & Crafts
Our program is geared for children 7-12 throughout the school year. Most materials are supplied, although occasionally your child will have to bring in items. Advance notice will be given.
Karate
LI Family Karate Center volunteers services for our beginner karate class. Children ages 7-12 are allowed to participate. Students must register in advance for our 8 week program. There is a materials fee.
Summer Recreation
Children, grades K-6 take part in daily crafts, games, outdoor activities, theme days, and educational workshops during our 5-week program. Please call for registration date and details.
Employment
We offer a full range of free employment referral services to youth between the ages of 13 and 20 years of age, including:
• Part-time and full-time job opportunities. Referrals are made to jobs and Department of Labor
for youth in and out of school.
• Odd job opportunities: babysitting, leaf-raking, yard work, snow shoveling, clean-up jobs, pet
sitting, and light housekeeping jobs in your area.
Sachem CYS welcomes calls from local businesses and homeowners in need of dependable young workers. All youth referred to any job are pre-screened.
Tutoring-Mentoring
Free tutoring is avilable for students grades K-12 year-round. Educational assistance and support is provided by teen and adult volunteers who meet for one hour per weekat the Sachem Public Library. Call us to set up an intake interview.
Volunteer tutors are always welcome. Training and materials provided. Choose your own hours and what subjects/grade levels you prefer.

About Us
We are a nonprofit community-based youth agency that is located in Ronkonkoma. Primarily, we serve the community and youth of the Sachem School District, the largest school district outside of New York City.
The agency has been providing services for over 41 years. Founded in 1970, the agency continues its mission of providing young people with positive alternatives and outlets. We strive to give every young person the opportunity and tools to be successful in life and to become productive members within their community.
There are many services that we provide. We offer counseling, recreation, tutoring/mentoring, and employment services. Additionally we offer a summer recreation program, a youth council, and prevention workshops such as our "Stop the Bullying" workshop. Sachem Community Youth Services is funded by Brookhaven Youth Bureau, Suffolk County Youth Bureau and the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.
